Sorry for not posting something about Web Development this time but the nerd and hard sci-fi books fan in me took over this morning when I came across this episode of StarTalk.

Do you remember the T-800's energy cell from Terminator? The power source of the Delorian, or the Impulse Drives of the USS Enterprise from Star Trek? This stuff just became a lot more real for us!

Scientists make ‘monumental’ breakthrough in nuclear fusion raising hopes of clean-energy future

I’m no scientist, but what I know of Nuclear Fusion makes me a lot more hopeful for the future of this whole energy thing we are all struggling with.

Here are some facts about nuclear fusion:

• With nuclear fusion, atomic nuclei get merged resulting in more energy.
• Because no parts get split there is no residual waste like with nuclear energy.
• There is also no risk of a meltdown with nuclear fusion.
• This first successful test gave 50% more energy than it cost to create the fusion.
